"Length of a Generation"

On the Rapture Ready Message Board, it says "Length of a Generation - My Theory, by MNGirl)."  She goes on to say..."This is a result of a little insomnia.  Please feel free to correct my numbers."

"If there were 3000 years between Abraham and Jesus, the first chapter of Matthew says there were 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus, then the length of a generation would be 41.4 years."
If we use the 1948 date and add 72 years, that generation would be over 2020 (although some would live longer than 72 years).  I am not saying that is when the Lord is coming (hopefully it will be sooner)! but maybe that is the duration of a generation."

I can agree with this theory.  But I come to the conclusion from a different direction.
I believe a modern generation is 70 years minimum / 80 years maximum.  (That fits in with current vital statistics, in general.)
(We don't need to go to Ancient History to figure this out, but the fact that we can is interesting.)
The Bible says your years shall be 3 score (20x3=60) + 10 = 70 (total), and if you're strong, 10 more (total = 80). (Paraphrased.)
I believe "this generation" started in 1948 (not 1967), when Israel became a nation.
1948 + 70 (minimum generation) = 2018
2018 - 7 (years of tribulation) = 2011
2011 - 2005 = 6 more years to still be in "this generation" that shall not pass away until ALL be fulfilled.  AND THE RAPTURE HAS TO HAPPEN BEFORE! THEN.
I believe the Rapture "kicks off" the 7 years of Tribulation.
It's as simple as that, IMHO.
