"FOUR MONTHS TO THE HARVEST"

Greetings to thee brother John...
A short thought here, could use some others' thoughts......
All the very best of His gifts,     Arlene

FOUR MONTHS TO THE HARVEST
John 4:35 -
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

We know that Jesus said "the harvest is the end of the age".   We know that there is the barley harvest, then the wheat harvest late spring, then on to the fruit harvest in the late summer and fall.  Jesus above was pointing out something to the deciples above.   He is saying, "are you thinking of the "autumn" harvest which comes in four months?" (there are four months between Pentecost and the fall harvest feasts)  He says, "no----look at the white fields ready to harvest right now!"  (these white fields would be the wheat fields around Pentecost time). (or tell me, is barley white when ready to harvest?)

Then He goes on to describe what they have been "hired" to do:
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

Is He telling them what their "job" is?  Is He telling them that they are to enter into the labors to harvest the "wheat"?   And not to look beyond to the summer/fall fruit harvest?  (which the angels do in the judgment years)?   If that is so, then Pentecost is the offering ot the "firstfruits of your fields" (harvest of the wheat).  Who are the "others" who labored first, who did the sowing?  Wheat is actually planted I think the prior autumn, after the "former rain".   I think Jesus is referring to Himself, who "sowed wheat in the field (the world), and one came and sowed tares.."

Jesus seems to be pointing out that they are to concentrate on the fields "white to harvest", and not to "think" about the fall harvest?
