Aprils post (http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/dec2010/april129.htm)
raised an interesting topic:
What is the difference between the 'Kingdom of God' and the 'Kingdom of Heaven'?
Before reading Aprils post, I never even realized that they are 2
I read Aprils post and also the related answers. In essence, April
points out that whoever accepts Jesus becomes part of the 'Kingdom of
God', whereas there will still be huge differences within this
Kingdom, ranging from 'outer darkness' (not to be confused with Hell!)
to 'Kingdom of Heaven'.
What I really like about it is that this perfectly answers the
controversy of 'Grace' vs. 'Works':
Through grace alone we are saved and can enter the Kingdom of God:
Hell -> Kingdom of God
Through works ("But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without
works is dead?", James 2:20, KJV) we can 'advance' within the Kingdom
Hell -> ['outer darkness' -> 'Kingdom of Heaven']
This seems to make a lot of sense for me and is really motivating,
nonetheless I will have to pray and reflect about it. I will certainly
keep this in mind from now on, knowing about such small but
tremendously important details really turns studying of scripture from
annoying to exciting!
Therefore, thank you April so much for sharing (and thanks John for
fivedoves.com!), and also thanks to all who replied to April (in one
or the other way) as this was really needed to raise my own interest
in Aprils original post.
I meanwhile found some good online articles from Nancy Missler:
