"Hot or Cold?"
Ever wonder what it means to be "Hot or Cold"???
I have heard that you are hot if you are "full on for God" or "if you love God"... or just the opposite if you are cold!
I would like to take you on a journey that God has taken me through on this subject:
It
was several years back that I heard Dr. Jimmy Young preach at our
church a message that affected my life in a profound way in this
area. The message was basically that when we worship God, He
inhabits the praises of His people. He said that when we worship
Him, that each of us has a celestial audience of One. He is
sitting on His throne in our presence during our time of worship, and
we should be asking our audience how was our performance? As an
individual not as a corporate setting. Another thing that he
mentioned that was very profound as well was if you are just coming to
the church's praise and worship (pw) to be entertained then you are
sitting on His throne and need to repent. this was the main
points of his message.
This message allowed God to deal and
speak to me about what He really wanted. All of a sudden I saw pw
as being a concert to the Lord. I started to think about concerts
and what makes up a good one. You have to realize that this is
how God deals with me at times, but I thought that I would not waste my
time going to a concert that I was putting on for God. If I would
not waste my time or money to see a concert that I was putting on then
why should God!!! It kinda puts in into a little different
perspective. As I was contemplating this I wondered what makes
one performance great while another is just mediocre? I have
heard of a person that plays the piano and it is so inspiring and yet
others that can play the same tune but it is just not the same! I
realized that it is that the one will play the music and the other will
play the notes. What I mean is that one will have a passion for
playing and the other just plays the notes. I also started
looking at different types of performers and it really comes down to
the great ones are the ones that have a passion for what they are
doing. This has made a big difference in the way I perform pw at
our church. I do not lead pw and do not consider myself
very good at singing but I now have passion as I worship my Lord and
king!
I guess what I am saying is that Hot is being passionate
and cold is the lack there of! It maybe the above also but I
thought everyone might enjoy this what God has taught me. You can
look through scripture and see a passionate God. He created us
and intended for us to be and desire passion as well. You cannot
be passionate all the time but you can by your decision be
passionate. So be passionate in your pw the next time you are in
church worshiping The Lord God.
Keep looking up
Dave,
