Today at about 11:30 AM CST my mom let our dog out and she(our dog) started a weird barks higher pitched  kind of a cross between a yelp and a bark and also low growling and all her fur on her back from neck to tail was standing up. When she came in she was very distant didn't lay near one of us like usual and was very quiet. Whatever she saw spooked her but good. She has NEVER been like that before and has NEVER barked like that before and we have had her 8 almost 9 years. For the next few hours she was lethargic and distant and would only go outside to go to the bathroom if one of us went with her which again is NOT like her. She has barked at seemingly nothing(though it may be something we cant see) before or barked at the air but always a normal bark(a woof sound) never this yelp-bark. At about 2:00-2:30PM CDT we let her out again( and went with her since she wouldnt go alone) and she did this yelp bark again and the low growl and then she wanted in without doing anything(i.e. goto the bathroom). After about 3:30 PM CDT she seemed ok again and was her normal self. But something spooked her this morning and she just was not herself for a good 4 hours. Anyone else have a experience like this with there pets??? especially in the last few days???
