'DAVID Miliband yesterday called for greater military co- operation between European countries - fuelling fears of a possible EU army to rival Nato. Setting out his 20-year vision for Europe, the Foreign Secretary said the EU should be better prepared to fight conflict around the world and be a 'model power of regional co-operation' which was not afraid to use military force.
His comments were seized on by critics as the first step towards a joint EU army. They carried extra potency because he delivered his s p e e c h i n Bruges, the city where Margaret Thatcher issued her famous Eurosceptic rallying cry almost 20 years ago.'
