Jesus Christ who is the LIGHT of the world!
“I am the light if the world: he that followeth after me
shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
-Jesus Christ (John 8:12)
Yesterday morning, we had many snow showers,
and as our little corner of the world was being coated with white frosty snow,
I saw the electrical power service truck pull into our drive way.
I was not expecting the power company, so I
quickly went to the door by our garage. As I opened the door to lots of down falling
snow,
I saw a man in his power company attire with
thick hood, gloves, boots, and a meter reader.
“Hi! Is there a problem?”
I called across the driveway.
From a few yards away, He lifted his
countenance to reveal a warm little smile from underneath his thick hood and
said in an assuring tone, “No, just doing a reading.” And he went
on his way into the snowy wonderland of our property, and I closed our door and
went inside.
What caught my attention was that this 29ish
year-old power company employee reminded me of Jesus.
Maybe it was a combination of things: the
way his hood was resting upon his head in kind of 1st century
fashion,
his hair reminiscent of pictures I’ve
seen (though only Jesus himself knows how his hair was worn J),
he had large warm brown eyes, his disposition was kind, gentle, peaceable, and
he came to fulfill his work order.
This also made me think of what it must have
been like for others during the time Jesus worked in His father’s
carpentry trade.
Can you just imagine Jesus stopping back at
a residence that he worked on- just to make sure everything was alright?
I can’t help but think that Jesus
would have impressed his customers in the same way and then some!
“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express
image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power,
when he had purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high…”
Heb. 1:3
“…and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his
strength.” Rev. 1:16
“For in him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead
bodily. And you are complete in him…” Col. 2:9
“And they shall see His face, and His name shall be in
their foreheads.”
“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle,
neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they
shall reign forever.” (Rev. 22:4-5)
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the
Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7
“Surely, I come quickly.” –Jesus Christ (Rev. 22:20)
