Nebraska pastor Joe Smith was inside Westroads Mall in Omaha before the "Omaha Mall Massacre" killings began. His wife and son had been shopping there and he met them at the mall food court for lunch. Gayle and Benjamin had more shopping to do and, when they finished eating, HOLY SPIRIT told pastor Joe to pray for them.

This was no casual prayer. Here are his own words: Before I left the mall, I pulled my wife and son to me and said, "I am led to pray for you both before I leave." We prayed, (I pleaded the blood of Jesus over them) and I left.

Gayle and Benjamin were going to the Von Maur girls department on the 3rd floor to buy a gift for their daughter. This department plus the customer service area are on each side of the elevator where the murderer was who killed eight people.  Gayle had other errands to do and chose to go into the Younkers department store next.

Joe called her at 1:30 and said: "Honey, I am troubled for you and Ben, and am praying for you both.'" She decided to leave the mall.  At approximately 1:35 Gayle and Benjamin walked out the door on the Von Maur side of the mall, got in their car, and left. At 1:42 the shooting started!

Summary: HOLY SPIRIT had Joe pray twice - once in person and then by phone - for his wife and son. Joe had no idea what the danger was. He prayed immediately when he was told to. The Omaha Mall Massacre happened a few minutes after the phone call prayer. Joe's wife and son avoided the killings.

Conclusion: Pray when you think about something. It is probably HOLY SPIRIT communicating with you.  Joe's obeying of HOLY SPIRIT and the answer to his prayers brought glory to Father God whose name is YAHWEH.
