"Jewish bluegrass (Jewgrass) music!"

Dear friends:

Here is a special Chanukkah treat for you!

Have you ever heard of Jewish bluegrass (Jewgrass) music?  Does that sound like an oxymoron?  It's real!

As a native Tennessean, while I do not care for inauthentic modern country music, I have always loved authentic bluegrass music, and these hillbilly rabbis are as good as anyone I have ever heard.  They are awesome.  They are the "The Sinai Mountain Boys," four Orthodox rabbis in hillbilly costume, performing Jewgrass music for Chanukkah at the at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts no less.

ENJOY!

The friend who sent me this also told me about cigar-smoking Texan Kinky Friedman, who recently ran for governor of Texas -- unsuccessfully I might add.  In the 19'70s, the droll Texan parlayed his knack for social satire into semi-stardom on the fringes of country music as "Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys." The band's stage shows were outrageous, thanks to Friedman's redneck-baiting, chauvinistic stage persona and such bitingly hilarious anthems as "They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore."

Smile, it's good for you! :)
