"controversial issue debates and dress codes"

Its OK to have a certain amount of varying opinions on certain issues. And on some there is certainly a correct interpretation. But I am reminded of a vision of a Russian friend who said he saw a rapture and he did not go. God's answer to him is because he was arguing. Even though he was right on the issue, he held animosity in his heart towards his brother.

Dress code. I look at it 2 ways. One way is that God takes you as you are, and as a Christian casual is OK as long as your not showing off your clothes or your body. But if you think about it, God had the people who did service in the temple wear special clothes. They where nice duds too. Why would you serve the king looking like you did not care?

I think some times we want to be a little rebelious in certain areas of our lives. Perhaps it is the way we talk, think, act or dress. And some times we get kind of offended over trivial things too.

I will try to recall a story re dress code that acutaly happened in the 70's. It has more to do with authority. A certain church member became an elder. The pastor asked him  to wear a suit and tie. He refused. So he could not be an elder. He injured his leg then went to the church for prayer and was healed. He still refused to comply with the pastors wishes. Several years later this man came back to a meeting and was all crippled up again in the same leg. This time he did not ask for prayer. Too stubborn.

This story has more to do with pasoral authority then dress code. But you know you really should dress your best for the king. If you want to look like the world, well maybe there is another issue going on. Tatoos are pretty hard to remove so you got what you got, facial hardware is another story.

And, by the way, pull your pants up and tuck your shirt in or your gonna get grounded!
