"Comforting cross on a hill"
I understand the situation re wearing a cross.
Perhaps it is because some who should not wear it have made wearing of
the cross insignificant. However.
I moved to a city in a large deep river valley. One winter
night I saw a dimly lit cross way up on a hill that could be seen by most
of the city. This comforted me. The next day I read in the local newspaper
an editorial about the cross. It seems some had complained about it. The
editor stated that since it was on this man's property that he had a right
to display it. Comforting to know that we can still do that now.
I found out a christian at a Methodist church has it
and goes to great lengths to get to that steep area to replenish the generator
that supplies the electricity. What a brother.
On my house I have a cross with the word holiness written
in Japanese under it. It has helped me start a few conversations, especialy
with the mormon boys who routinely appear. I do not have a cross on my
car becuase I can't seem to drive like Christ yet so I do not want to be
a bad example. I find it kind of sad that many churches no longer have
a cross. They don't even call it a church, its a christian center. So I
wonder what is next.
The cross is comforting to me inspite of all this.
