"Re: Israeli leader lying about Temple Mount?"
Hi John & All:
Dawn submitted a rather interesting post yesterday, to which I would like give a response. There is really only one reason the Israeli government would take steps -- or consider the feasability -- to give away half of Jerusalem as well as the Temple Mount. It's been public knowledge for years that many of them do not believe "the book" (i.e. The Bible), and in fact suggest that the fantasies of those who do will only lead to further turmoil and war in the Middle East. So in their (misguided) opinion, they feel by giving away part of Jerusalem, as well as the Temple Mount, they will put out the fires of those who see these things as signs of the coming of the Messiah.
In regards as to whether or not these government members are lying, well this wouldn't be the first time. Back in the original days of the Madrid Conference, when rumors abounded that they (Israeli Government), were negotiating away in secret with Yassir Arafat -- Shimon Peres came out and publicly stated this was not true ... which of course we know was a lie. As well, in the days leading up to the Annapolis Conference, the Prime Minister of Israel, as well as other members of the government, had publicly stated that no firm date was set in regards to the conference, even though this later proved to be untrue as well, when U.S. State Department spokesman, Scott McCormack quipped: "The date [of the conference] was one of the worst kept secrets."
See ya in the air,
Eric
