"The number 60"

The following is taken from the book Keys to Scripture Numerics by the late Ed Vallowe and with permission given to me by his widow.

SIXTY seems to stand for pride. The image which Nebuchadnezzar set up was SIXTY cubits (90 feet) high. (Daniel 3:1) PRIDE prompted him to erect this image. He dreamed of a great image (chapter 2) whose head was of gold. Daniel told him that he (Nebuchadnezzar) was that head of gold. (Daniel 2:36-38) This, along with his greatness, filled him with PRIDE, as recorded in chapter 4, verse 30.

"Is not this great Babylon, MY power, and for the honor of MY
      MAJESTY."

While he was yet speaking a voice came from heaven saying,

"O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; the kingdom is
     departed form thee." (vs 3)

For seven years he was deprived of his reason and he was made to eat grass with the beasts of the field. This was God's punishment upon him for his PRIDE. This record follows immediately after his erection of the great image, SIXTY cubits high.

SIXTY is SIX times TEN, the numbers for Satan and the LAW. Satan fills those with PRIDE and boasting who are under the LAW.

"Where is boasting then? it is excluded. By what LAW? Of
works? Nay, but by the law of faith." (Romans 3:27)

This number is mentioned 14 times in the Word of God.

Perhaps the significance of the number 60 associated with the exact number of years from the State of Israel being formed to the Annapolis conference has to do with pride, man's pride, which always goes before a fall. The State of Israel is largely secular, and the pride of their government leaders, just like Nebuchadnezzar, may be about to be punished because they are proud that they have accomplished all that they have by their own strength. They have refused to acknowledge the God of the patriarchs, relying instead on the strength of the military, their arms, themselves. The Lord is merciful and uses judgement upon His people, because of the sins of the rulers, in order to bring them back unto Him.
