"Prayer for the Mideast"
I echo the call to prayer for those in the Midwest -
Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri specifically. Pray for the victims
of the storm but also pray for the crews who are working diligently to
release us from our prison of ice and of darkness. They must be exhausted!
They don't work from dawn to dusk. We have seen the crews out long
after dark working by flashlights and spotlights.
If you have elderly relatives or friends who are in need,
I would urge you to call the fire department, Adult Protective Services,
city hall, the health department, someone to go and check on them to make
sure they have food, water and heat. My brothers just called to check
on us. We are fortunate. Our neighborhood has underground service
so our services were among the first to be restored.
If you want to let some of us who live in the area know
about those you are concerned about, we would be willing to check on them
and get them to safety. I am sure John would assist you in contacting
us.
That deadly storm has now paralyzed the Northeast - Pennsylvania,
Connecticut and Rhode Island come to my mind from the news reports I saw.
These also need to be prayed for.
Another problem 1 Cor 10:31 didn't mention but has reared
its ugly head here in the OKC area is "price gouging". Seems some
of the hotels raised the rent!! Also some folks have tried to make
some money selling generators at higher prices. And they are warning
against repairmen and tree removal crews who may be shysters!!
Always someone out there to take advantage of tragedy.
Thank you for your prayers for our state. This
is our bicentennial you know. OK became a state about this time of
year back in 1907.
In His Grip and not the icy grip of the soul's winter.
