I’ve hesitated to write this because I’m not at all sure I’m not just trying to force events to look like something they aren’t and get them to fit a timetable just because I hope they do. I may be completely out to lunch on this, but it’s been on my mind since Tuesday. Anyway, obviously, THE Covenant wasn’t enacted at Annapolis, but I think there was a “covenant” clearly put forth between Olmert and Abbas. They both made a solemn agreement (or covenant) before “the many” to seriously seek a lasting peace (the one thing about Annapolis that can definitely be said is it was about as complete a gathering of “the many” as you’re likely to see, given the wide range of the people and institutions represented). Now the result of this “peace seeking” is predictably gloomy, but if it fails, what other step is there? Everyone who could be involved, is. There really isn’t a next step. This is the end of the line so it HAS to succeed, but it won’t. So then the only way to achieve “peace” will be through someone powerful enough to implement and make firm the Covenant (they're striving to reach) with (or between) “the many”. Given the decades-long track record of disaster the so-called “peace process” has, I really don’t think people are going to give this latest effort much time to produce results. Everyone’s seen it all before and unless something really new happens really quickly, any little setback and this effort’s toast, literally and figuratively. Within a month or two at the most, I have to believe either the whole region is going to be up in flames or the AC has to be revealed.

As I said, this all makes sense to me and I don’t see how else it can play out. Kind of like C has to follow B has to follow A, but I may just be deluding myself. What do you other Doves think?

Also (and this has probably been mentioned before, but I don’t recall it), it struck me today that when this is posted it will be the 1st of December, the 12th month. I’ve always wondered how the Bridegroom arriving at midnight tied in. Taking midnight as 12 o’clock, could it be pointing to the 12th month?
