"a time and a season"

Luke 21:29-31 (New International Version)

29He told them this parable: "Look at the fig tree and all the trees. 30When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. 31Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.

I am amazed at all that is going on in the news.  You can literally see that the situation in the Middle East is ready to explode.  Here are some quick thoughts:

1.  I know some have been critical of Bush (do two humans ever agree on everything?), but as a whole he is known for being the President that the “Evangelical Segment” (as tabbed by the secular media), and we have had him I office for two terms (I wonder if his office would be cut short and end up being 7 years of good, like Joseph followed by 7 bad…).  Anyway, two big things for the most part Bush has taken a Biblical stance on:  Abortion and Gay Marriage.

2.  Already Democrats have taken the House and Senate, and before we know it we’ll have a new President.  Here is a very quick look at the candidates:

·         Republican:  I really like Rudy Giuliani in many practical ways.  However, my politics always start on two items, abortion and gay marriage – where do you stand?  Mr. Giuliani is Pro-Choice and believes in Civil Unions.  When I found this out I was deeply disappointed.  Anyone can change and I really do like Rudy Giuliani, so I’ll be praying.  But, I don’t see a viable second “Evangelical” President.

·         Democrat:  Hillary and Obama seem to be in the lead here.  Hillary is not very charismatic and there seems to be a huge wave of support forming for Obama.  Obama is seen as charismatic and also a “unifying” figure.  I’m not someone to go out looking and guessing for who the anti-christ is, but here are some things to watch here – The anti-christ will come out of nowhere, be very charismatic and be very “unifying”…that said it doesn’t mean Obama is the anti-christ but it does bear watching – that’s what Jesus told us to do.

Things can change, but it doesn’t look like there is a candidate that will be standing for Biblical values.  Remember it’s not Republican or Democrat that God cares about.  Don’t get fooled by “labels”.  It’s what is in our heart and as Jesus says you can tell a tree by it’s fruit.

3.      I’m going to say this simple:  The Middle East looks like a time bomb waiting to happen.  The Russian – Iran alliance the Bible foretold is obvious.

4.      Sooner or later the U.S. is going to withdraw from Iraq.  Get ready to see the New Babylon rise and fulfill prophecy as well.  Sometimes when these things are far away it seems impossible for them to pass, but as God works all things together, his Word never returns void.

5.      Animals go wild:  Every other day I’m hearing about Stingrays, elephants, etc. Conditions predicted by the Bible for last days.

6.      Where are the Hurricanes?:  These were going strong last year and lasted even beyond man’s time period – I am guessing God is storing these up for a massive wave of them to come.

You really can see the season and the birth pangs coming like Jesus said.

Luke 21:28

28When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

Blessings,

Tony
