1. December 31st is the Fast of Teves for the Jewish religion. It is the celebration of the day Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar laid seige to Jerusalem and destroyed the first temple. The seige lasted about 3 years. From Torah.prg

The first mention that we see of the tenth day of Teves as a fast day appears in Zecharia 8:19 , where the verse mentions the "fast of the tenth month..." As the tenth month counting from Nissan (which is referred to as the first month) is Teves, the fast of the "tenth month" is the Fast of the Tenth of Teves.
The Aruch HaShulchan (Orech Chayim 549) gives us an understanding of why this day is significant. He writes that on the tenth day of Teves, the wicked Nevuchadnezzar, the king of Bavel, laid siege to the city of Jerusalem. This event is mentioned in the second book of Melachim ( Kings 25:1 ), where we are told that "And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nevuchadnezzar, king of Bavel came, with all his troops, upon Jerusalem...." At the time of this siege, there were already Jews who were in exile in Bavel, where the prophet Yechezkel (Ezekiel) lived. Hashem came to Yechezkel in a prophecy, to inform him of the siege of Jerusalem. This prophecy is related to us in the Book of Yechezkel (24:1): "And in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of Hashem came to me, saying 'Son of man, write the name of the day, of this same day - the king of Bavel has laid siege on Jerusalem on this very day....'"
2. And it is also a special day in Islam known as Eid-ul-Adha where Muslims celebrate the day they say Abraham went to offer Ishmael as a sacrifice to God.
The problem is, as with all of Satan's works, it is the exact revrsal of what truly happened. It was Abraham sacrificing Isaac, not Ishmael. Anyway, Saturday the 31st is that day in Islam this year. From WikiPedia.com

Interesting Jews commemorate the seige of the temple and Islam celebrates the false notion of the first sacrifice God commanded of man, that of Abraham's firstborn.
Another curious prophecy that fits right in with my belief that the "woman in the wilderness" is in fact the Church body of believers, is this from Revelation 12:13 & 14;
13: And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
14: And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Is this a picture of the rapture? I believe so.
And oddly they both fall on the last day of 2006. What I find significant is Jesus said "as in the days of Noe, so shall the days of the Son of man be."
Noah died 2,006 years after Adam. GO HERE We know Noah was born 1,056 years after Adam ( Gen. 5:28 & 29 ). He lived 950 years ( Gen. 9:28 ) and 1056 + 950 = 2006.
Saturday December 31, 2006 will effectively end "the days of Noah." Keep looking up people, we could be in for an "uplifting" New Year!Remember Always, "Speak the Truth"
