Greetings,
I believe that the conjunction of Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury in 2bc near virgo, and 1ad (in Libra) marked the 2 appearances of the star of Bethlehem. Throughout history, these planets conjunct several times. Thus, the conjunction itself is not enough to pinpoint any major event, you need more celestial data to really add meaning.
So, if the 'FIRST' 'star of bethlehem' returns again, what should we look for? I'm not exactly sure, but consider the return of the conjuction of these 3 on Dec 10th.
Space Weather News for Nov. 28, 2006 (http://spaceweather.com)"ALIGNMENT OF PLANETS: Mark your calendar. On Dec. 8th through 11th,
Jupiter, Mercury and Mars will form a tight triangle in the eastern sky at
dawn. All three will fit together in the field of view of ordinary
binoculars. (Mars is dim enough that binoculars may be required to see it.)
Of special note is the morning of Dec. 10th when Jupiter and Mercury
converge within 0.25 degrees of one another. The close, bright pair will be
visible to the unaided eye--a fabulous sight in the rosy glow of sunrise."
You can see, that the conjunction of the planets is easier to see 'with the unaided eye' than without it.
