Dear friends:The other day, America lost a great lady: Jeanne Kirkpatrick. She was a
staunch Reagan-era anti-Communist who infused American foreign policy with
firm conviction and was the first woman to serve as U.N. ambassador. She
was age 80.I used to think that this tough lady might someday be the nation's first
female President. She reminded me of the UK's great Margaret Thatcher, and
Israel's strong Golda Meier, who were cut from the same cloth. Thatcher
was called "the Iron Lady," and "Attila the Hen." But now we have
degenerated from a possible President Kirkpatrick to a possible President
Rodham, which some say she will call herself. Also gone from the scene is another tough UN Ambassador, John Bolton, who
resigned just the other day because Democrats were blocking his permanent
nomination. Bolton is just what we needed in this useless, corrupt
organization. He was disliked because he spoke the truth and was tough.
Democrats do not like truth and do not dare want to offend our enemies and
the American-hating nations of the world. President Bush was wrong not to
fight harder for Bolton. Now, get this: Columnist Robert Novak reports that "Muslim" Zalmay
Khalilzad, who was announced this week as leaving as U.S. ambassador to
Iraq, is the leading prospect to replace John Bolton! Oh, me. Say it
ain't so!Can you imagine -- a Muslim who worships the moon god as America's
ambassador to the UN (where he would be right at home on his prayer rug,
bending over in NYC face down, facing Mecca, with his fellow Muslims)? Let
us hope and pray this will not happen -- unless another sign of the times,
which it very well may be.Jim
