DECEMBER 11th A SPECIAL DAY

That’s the day General Allenby got off his horse and walked into Jerusalem as a humble gesture, taking back the land from the Turks after 400 years of ownership 1917, back up to the 31st October it all hinged on the taking of the water-wells at Beersheba from the Turks and Germans, our troops were out of water for days, if they could not take Beersheba they would perish.  Enter the Australian Light Horse Brigade, 800 of them (the British hated them…wont take orders and wont salute), they decided to charge the machine guns and artillery, they broke through and took the wells before they were blown up by the Germans.  Without this charge by the mad aussies things might have taken a different course, 60,000 British troops now had water… 400,000 gallons a day was needed.  200 Australian troops died as a result and are buried in Jerusalem.

God chose the youngest nation, only 16 years old, to liberate the oldest.

NOW THIS IS INTERESTING

Visions of Angels

Before the battle for Jerusalem a feeling spread among the troopers and padres that biblical prophecy was about to be fulfilled.

One of the most extraordinary aspects of the liberation of Jerusalem was the claim that many had seen visions of angels        from General Chauvel down to officers and troopers, visions of ancient buildings, strange animals, lighted villages and angelic beings were witnessed enmasse.  During debriefing hundreds of stories were corroborated through cross checking examinations.  As there was no logical explanation officially the incident was recorded as, lack of sleep, reports of angelic beings appearing during the fighting occurred up to the cessation of hostilities in 1918.  They are too numerous to detail, statements were taken from captured enemy officers who had witnessed the same manifestations.  General Allenby called for detailed reports and interviewed some witnesses himself.
