"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"

Dear Doves,

I am tired of hearing about every attempt to discredit
anything which does not receive an outright seal of
approval from all Christian sources.

This is a great movie.

A local church in our area sponsored this event and I
attended with them as their guest.  We entered through
a wardrobe (our covering) and sat in a theater where
gift baskets were given out and friends hugged warmly.

I have read "Mere Christianity", "The Screwtape
Letters", and many of C.S. Lewis' works.  I have also
heard him discredited along with Tolkien.  How
judgmental of Christians today who do not accept
anyone whose "brand of Christianity" is not EXACTLY
LIKE THEIR OWN.

These two men accepted Christ as their personal
saviour and led many to Christ.  That is enough for
me.  I have read their works and I believe can speak
on their deeper meanings.

You know, anyone reading the Bible without the Holy
Spirit would find: cannibalism, God ordering the death
of children, incest, etc.  They "could" then label the
Bible as hate speech, unfit for children to read, etc.
Shame on those who seek to do such things to other's
works.

I watched this Chronicles of Narnia installment and I
saw Aslan sacrifice himself for Edmond.  I saw him
explain the "deeper magic" (this is a fairy tale...It
has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW AGE) which says that
when a totally innocent man (Jesus!) sacrifices
himself for another that not even death can stop him.
I saw the table split in two (the veil in the
temple!).  I heard him say, "It is finished".

For those with the knowledge of the Bible and it's
symbolism, this film was replete with them.  For those
seeking to destroy the message, well, you can find
that anywhere...sit in on a college level literature
course if you don't believe me.

Too many attack seeking perfection.  Lewis was not a
perfect man.  Disney has a poor track record.  But
this is a GREAT movie!

Go and see it and judge for yourself.

People will always see what they want to see and
believe what they want to believe.  I saw Christ in
those wonderful minutes.  I saw him exposed to the
whole world...not in a heavy handed manner (which is
not what Lewis intended at all) but in a gentle way
which enters your subconscious if you do not yet know
him.

When Aslan willingly walked to his death accompanied
by Susan and Lucy, I saw Christ's journey with his
disciples in the garden.  When he willingly walked up
the stone altar to sacrifice himself, I saw him
carrying his cross.  When he allowed himself to be
bound, shorn and abased, I saw Christ's abuse at the
hands of the Roman guards.  When I saw him allow
himself to be killed by a law which he himself was
there to help enact, I saw Christ as God.  When I saw
the white witch kill Aslan with joy that she had
overcome him, I saw Satan's hand in the death of my
saviour.  He had no idea at what he was doing because
he would never have allowed it otherwise.

I came out of the New Age and know it well.  This is
definitely not New Age or occultic.  Paul taught us to
be as the ones we are trying to reach.  Lewis was
reaching out to people through the accepted use of the
genre called "fairy tale".  You may not like that, but
do not try to make it into something it was never
intended to be.  This is no Harry Potter novel brought
to the screen...nor is it a "matrix" which was
definitely gnostic in its heart.  This is a truly
Christian movie.

No my friends, this movie will not beat you over the
head with Christianity, but it is the perfect vehicle
to enter the hearts and minds of an unbelieving world.
That is the way that Lewis intended his work.  He
succeeded beyond his wildest imagination.  God will
use this work, I am sure.

Let God use you as well.  See this movie and encourage
others to as well.  God bless.
