"Hal Lindsey and TBN"

Dear friends:

By now you have probably seen one or more of the frantic e-mails
circulating on the Internet about TBN removing Hal Lindsey's excellent TV
program from the network.  Some are urging that TBN be bombarded with protests.

Details and reasons have been contradictory and inconsistent.  First we
were told that it had nothing to do about his pro-Israel program content,
and then we were told that it did.  I am not sure what the truth is, but I
suspect that it did.  We shall see.

My initial take on the subject is this...

I love Hal Lindsey, but TBN is trying very hard to make gospel inroads into
the Islamic world, as in all the world.  It may be godly wisdom to soften
the pro-Israel and anti-Arab rhetoric, even though such a stance is
valid.  But such an emotional issue and flash point can be a severe
stumbling block for Arabs entering the kingdom.  Once they come to faith in
Jesus, they can be educated later on other truths of the Bible, such as
God's prophetic plan for Israel and the world.

As a matter of priority, would it not be better for Muslims to enter the
Kingdom than for Christians to be more informed about God's plan for Israel
and the dangers of Islamic terrorism, which most already know anyhow?  What
else is there to know?

That is just a guess, and I may be wrong, but I suspect it is true.  TBN
may believe this is godly wisdom, not an attempt to suppress the truth, but
to proclaim a greater truth.

We do not know for sure, but TBN may be being led by the Spirit, whose true
passion is exalt Christ and bring souls into the Kingdom.  If that is true,
I would caution prayer before bombarding TBN with protests, which would be
fighting against God.

If some reports are true that this is temporary for December only and TBN
is merely making room for more Christmas programming, the situation will
soon resolve itself.
