"To Brandon -- re: the baptism with the Holy Spirit"

I concur whole heartedly what you said about the Holy Spirit living with us.  This is almost an unpreached sermon.  There is always much said about the Holy Spirit living inside us, but very very rarely is it ever brought forth that He lives with us.  The person of God who lives with us, like you said is personal, and He is someone we can meet personally.  It seems so backward, and at first this may not sound right, but we have the very person of God living with us as John 14:17 says and yet for many the focus is God living a million miles away in heaven, while the same person of God living here is forgotten.  Some can criticize the Jews of the Old Testament for walking away from God in spite of Him making Himself so real to them, yet how much better has the New Testament church done than them?  Jesus said that the very person of God lives with us here in John 14:17, yet who gives any focus to Him?  Not many.

What you write, I think, is the single most lacking teaching of the Bible, simply that He lives WITH us.  Then it is up to us to spend time with Him and meet Him personally.  And discover just how real God is.  It is accurate to translate the Spirit of truth as the Spirit of verity or reality.  That’s exactly who He is – The Spirit of Reality.
