Diane's post was very interesting in that man is again (as usual) trying to play God.  Think about this - the locusts that come out of the bottomless pit in the midst of the Great Tribulation are a "blend" of creatures. Perhaps they will be a monstrosity man creates and God will simply use them to punish mankind for this sin (among others!)   They have teeth like lions, hair like women, tails like serpents, etc.  So are the 200,000 million horse army that is unleashed. They have heads like lions and have tails like serpents, and they breathe fire like dragons!
Remember this, God Himself blends creatures, but HE IS GOD and only He is supposed to do so.  The Cherubim that are before His throne night and day are a "blend," as they have FOUR faces, the face of an eagle, a man,  an ox, and a lion and each has six wings.  They have the bodies of men, but the soles of their feet are like calves feet.  (See Rev 4 and Ezekial 1.)  All the creatures that God blends are SUPERNATURAL creatures and they all have a purpose for which He created them.  Any monstrosity that MAN creates, he does so in direct defiance against God and usually for selfish, greedy purposes!  And the end result usually bites him in the butt!
