Ten months after opening in theaters around the world, Mel Gibson's controversial film The Passion of the Christ will have its debut public screening in Israel on December 24 at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque.

The film tells the story of the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus (played by James Caviezel), on the day of his crucifixion in Jerusalem.
