Shalom all,
One of the things in history that is attributed to the 1st. of Tivet, or I suppose the 30th. of Cheshvan is: Exodus 9:24...and ZYO whatever source that is.
Exodus 9:13 "Hashem spoke to Moses,*'Arise early in the morning and station yourself before Pharaoh; say to him, "So said Hashem, the God of the Hebrews: Send out My people that they may serve Me. 14) For this time I shall send all My Plagues against your heart, and upon your servants, and your people, so that you shall know that there is none like Me in all the world.* 15) For now I could have sent My hand and stricken you and your people with the pestilence and you would have been obliterated from the earth. 16) However, for this have I let you endure, in order to show you MY STRENGTH and so that MY NAME may be declared throughout the WORLD.
17)You still tread upon My People, not to send them out. 18) BEHOLD, at this time tomorrow I shall rain a very heavy hail, such as there has never been in EGYPT, from the day it was founded until now. 19)And now send, gather in your livestock and everything you have in the field; all the people and the animals that are found in the field that are not gathered into the house--the hail shall descend upon them and they shall die.'"
20) Whoever among the servants of Pharaoh feared the word of Hashem chased his servants and his livestock to the houses. 21) and whoever did not take the word of God to heart--he left his servants and livestock in the field.
22) Hashem said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven and there will be hail in the entire land of Egypt, on man and beast, and on all the grass of the field in the land of Egypt."
23) Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and Hashem sent thunder and hail, and fire went EARTHWARD, and Hahem rained hail upon the land of Egypt. 24) There was hail, and fire flaming amid the hail*--very heavy such as had never been in the entire land of Egypt, from the time it became a nation.
25) The hail struck in the entire land of Egypt, everything that was in the field from man to beast; all the grass of the field the hail struck and every tree of the field it smashed. 26)Only in the land of Goshen, where the Children of Israel were, there was no hail.
27) Pharaoh sent and summoned Moses and Aaron and said to them, "This time I have sinned;* Hashem is the Righteous One, and I and my people are the wicked ones. 28)Entreat Hashem--there has been an overabundance of Godly thunder and hail; I shall send you out and you shall not continue to remain."
This next part is what I think is prophetic of our times in this whole story...the above may happen today, tomorrow again...or maybe not.....but look closely at the next few verses.
29) Moses said to him, "When I leave the city I shall spread out my hands to Hashem; the thunder will cease and the hail will no longer be, so that you shall know that the EARTH is Hashem's. 30) And as for you and your sevants, I know that you are not yet afraid of Hashem, God."
31)The Flax and the Barley were struck, for the barley was ripe and the flax was in its stalk..
32) And the WHEAT and the SPELT were not struck, for they ripen later.
33) Moses went out from Pharaoh, from the city, and he stretched out his hands to Hashem; the thunder and hail ceased and rain did not reach the earth. 34)Pharaoh saw that the rain, the hail, and the thunder ceased, and he continued to sin; and he made his HEART STUBBORN, he and his servants.35) Pharaoh's Heart became strong and he did not send out the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, as Hashem had spoken through Moses.
This spoke deeply to my heart as I read it. I noticed several things. The Thunder, the voice of Heaven represented. There was no lightning, but immediatly after thunder came Hail...hard water...and then Fire. Hashem's order from heaven.
When it came from Moses outstreched hands...the order is the same...but there is no fire mentioned. The Fire is how the earth will be cleansed when Messiah comes again....here it was extended to melt the water...and the thunder of God's Voice.
I noticed that Pharoah's awareness of his sin...and his people's sin....did not bring repentance...just recognization.
I noticed that the people that believed Hashem's WORD/ and evidently HEARD the Warning..heeded it, and brought all that was their's into the safety of Hashem's appointed place...their houses.
I noticed that ALL OF HASHEM"S PLAGUES WERE SENT OUT against the Pharoah's HEART and also His Servant's HEARTS....not against their flesh. And that only three plagues (heavenly thunder, water (Like Noah's) only hardened, and Fire.....a warning(thunder), distruction like Noah's only harsher, and Fire...that which is reserved for the last days. I always remember my dad saying "I'll warn you once, I'll warn you the 2nd. time....but, I'll not warn you the third time." a biblical principal.
And last but not least....in Israel today, some very important choices are being faced. Not only the disasters in Gaza...but the signing of the EU Neighborhood Treaty is demanded today. For or against. Either Israel will give up her weapons, and except the EU mandate for their ability to fight their neighbors.....or not sign the treaty.
According to the Biblical way of knowing what day this really is...gives us a double picture. Of the 15 year reversal of Hezekiah's Chanukkah....when time was turned backward. Or lengthened for Hezekiah.Shalom,
MeriamPS another thing on this day in Jewish History is that on this day...Tevet 1 (Hillel)/Cheshvan 30 (Biblically correct) calendars...is it is the time for the Parosh family (the tribe of Judah), a 2nd. time, to bring firewood for the Temple.
That is very prophetic, i think.
