There is no reason for the EU to pay for 2 armed forces, so they will pull out of NATO, dissolve it, or simply kick the US out of it and adopt it as the EU forces.  This would mean that the US could no longer count on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization members to help us if we are attacked.
 
Since the EU will be so powerful, they will have no need of the US and we will be relgated to the back burner:  in effect, becoming a second-class country.  Our economic clout will also continue to decline, due to the EU's increasing power and influence, our status as a debtor nation, and the declining value of the dollar against other world currencies (epecially the Euro).
