(I haven't read this new book called the Last Disciple, but I am wondering if his fictional basis for teaching the Rapture took place long ago is based on the fact that some Bible scholars believe that the many saints that were resurrected when Jesus was resurrected and were later taken to heaven by him. However, since his living disciples were never taken to heaven and there were 120 present in the upper room at the time of Pentecost, the Rapture could not have happened at that time.  You would also think down during the centuries if the Rapture had taken place, that a lot of faithful Christians would have been reported missing, but this book is fictional so it's not the truth anyway.)
