"REPLY TO DIANNE TALSMA -- Unleavened Bread"

Hi Dianne,

In reply to your 12/10 post at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/dec2004/diannet1210-2.htm where ever you find the word "bread" in the New Testament, the Greek word "artos" is used.  The Greek word for "unleavened" is "azumas."  So the Greek words "azumas artos" which means "unleavened bread" is found in Matthew 26:17, Mark 14:1&12, Luke 22:1&7, Acts. 12:3 & 20:6, and in 1 Corinthians 5:7&8.

If you read the accounts of the Passover supper found in Matthew 26, Mark 14, and Luke 22, the disciples made ready the Passover supper of unleavened bread for Jesus. At this supper, Jesus "took bread and gave thanks and brake it, and gave unto them saying,This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me." (Luke 22:19)  So I doubt very much if leavened bread was used.

God bless,
Donna
