When was Jesus born? This is a good question as we again enter into the Christmas season. Was Jesus really born on December 25th or not?
The messianic people as well as many other Christians say that Jesus was born at the time of the Feast of Mangers or Feast of Tabernacles. The time for shepherds to be in the fields is not winter.Do a net search and you will see that indeed; Jesus was not born on December 25th.
But who was? And what is December 25th really all about?
Traditions of men or the birth of Jesus? You may say that this is not what it means to you; but what does God think about this. Can something pagan ever be used to worship God with? The nation of Israel was judged many times and is still being judged for this very reason. Something pagan can not be mixed with or used in the worship of God without judgment.
Traditions of men are an abomination to God. But to use that which is pagan to worship God with is a great abomination.
Before you get upset, do several net searches. The truth hurts no one.
Jeremiah 7:30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
Deuteronomy 7:26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
Deuteronomy 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
Deuteronomy 20:18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.
Deuteronomy 32:16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.
Chronicles II 36:14 Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 4:1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
Ezekiel 5:11 Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
Ezekiel 7:8 Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.
Ezekiel 7:9 And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.
The Lord is very particular regarding His Word and the keeping of His Word.
As we get nearer to the coming of the Lord; we should make sure that all that we do is right before Him. If I think that something might be an abomination to God then I should be very careful in what I do and teach others to do. My biggest sin might be not telling others for the fear of what they might think.
Will my church change anything about Christmas? It really does not matter, at least to me. My changes are what count to me. This is a very strong tradition of men (a pagan tradition) that we are dealing with. I personally believe that nothing at all will change in the church, so I am the one who must change. I and I alone will some day stand before God and give an account for what I have done.
I am not putting down the birth of Jesus; but I am revealing that something pagan should not be used in the worship of God/Jesus.
