"The Elul 23 Coincidence"

I stumbled across The 5 Doves web site (which I haven't fully explored yet) while googling Elul 23.  Thought you might be interested in reading the attached article I recently wrote.  I'm still looking for other confirmations to the subject matter; I feel there is a lot more to the story.  --Dan

The Soon Coming Elul 23 Coincidence

Introduction:

I know it’s an unusual title.  Elul is a Jewish calendar month.  The explanation is below.  If you woke up one morning from a dream in which you saw a specific date highlighted on a specific calendar month, would you be kind of curious?   I can tell you that had never happened to me before.   After it did I decided to research the matter further.  I wanted to see if there might be something significant about the date-- either past or future-- or perhaps both.  What I’ve discovered has stirred an interest and some insight into a possible major turning point we may be approaching in early September of this year.  I’m writing these things in the form of a report rather than as a prophetic declaration, although readers will also find elements of implied prediction woven into the report.

The Dream

In my dream I saw an entire calendar page of the month of September very clearly.  On it was highlighted the number 7 -- the seventh day of the month-- in a reddish colored tone.  But no year was shown on the calendar page.

I told a few friends about the dream in the months leading up to September 2014.  However when nothing eventful seemed to have happened on that day in 2014, I discounted the matter to ‘the back burner’ of my interests.  As time progressed and the dream came to mind again I decided to research the date on the internet.  It was just too unusual of a dream for me to ignore.  "What if it was a dream from God?" I thought to myself.  If so, how might it be important?  Could it just be something personal, with implications for my own life exclusively?

Some resulting discoveries from my online investigation turned out to be more than just a little coincidental.   So... just in case this dream was from God... and the results are worth sharing... I've written a summary of them here.   When I began doing my research concerning September 7th I wasn't looking for anything specific to correspond or link my dream to.  (I didn't know what I was looking for).  I began googling the history of the month of September, hoping to find something for the 7th day.

First I read in Wikipedia the historical account of the destruction of Jerusalem: "The city was completely under Roman control by September 7 and the Romans continued to pursue those who had fled the city" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Jerusalem_(AD_70).   So this day was a noted turning point in history.

Since I was intent on keeping my interest focused on God's perspective of the past and future I began examining Jewish history a little more closely.  I soon became further educated on the comparison between our modern calendar and that of the Jews (which is still in use today).   I found web sites with conversions tables between the Hebrew and our modern calendar dates.   That’s how I confirmed September 7, 2015 = Elul 23 this year.

According to online sources I consider reliable Elul is the 6th month of the ecclesiastical year of the Hebrew calendar. The name of the month was brought from the Babylonian Exile, and originated from the Akkadian word “harvest”.

In Jewish tradition it’s a time of repentance and preparing for the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

It’s seen as a season to search one’s heart and draw close to God in preparation for the coming day of judgment, Rosh Hashanah and the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur.

But the biggest surprise was this: My research revealed Elul 23 to be a historically important date both on the Jewish calendar and in our nation: The 23rd of the month Elul:  From Source: http://www.aish.com/dijh/Elul_23.html

Elul 23

On September 11, 2001, Islamist terrorists hijacked four U.S. domestic airplanes, crashing two into the World Trade Center in Manhattan, one into the Pentagon, and the fourth into a rural field in Pennsylvania. Some 3,000 people died in the attacks, the most lethal ever on American soil. It was not long before Hezbollah's al-Manar television concocted a conspiracy theory that Israeli and Jewish employees did not show up for work at the WTC on 9/11, supposedly based on a tip from the Israeli General Security apparatus, the Shabak. In fact, the attacks claimed an estimated at 400-500 Jewish victims, including five Israelis. However, it has been speculated that indeed many Jews may have been late for work that day, since the attack occurred a few days prior to Rosh Hashana, when Jews extend their morning prayers with the "Slichot" service.

Fast forward exactly fourteen years on the same Jewish calendar to Elul 23.  That day of this year corresponds to the date of September 7th, 2015.  For confirmation of this please see the following web site (other web sites have similar date conversion tables):  (https://www.hebcal.com/converter/?gd=7&gm=9&gy=2015&g2h=%3CI+class%3D%22glyphicon+glyphicon-refresh%22%3E%3C%2FI%3EConvert+to+Hebrew).

What about the number 14?

The number fourteen sometimes appears in the Bible as a separation marker of completion-- of a season, of generations or cycles.  This turning point is not simply the end of a thing (be it ever so gentle or abrupt) because here also is the beginning of another season.  However it doesn’t necessarily mean everyone will notice.  Alarms may not always sound or bells and whistles be heard when that scheduled time comes.  Yet God is nevertheless using this number in his own schedule as though it were a type of clockwork in his sight.   Consider Mat. 1.17:

“So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.”

Another way to view the number 14 is by doubling the number 7.  Why do that?  Evidently God likes the meaning of the number 7 in calendar terms and sometimes doubles it for greater emphasis.  Examples of Jacob serving Laban fourteen years as part of his prescheduled agreement of two seven year periods for marrying his two daughters.

Joseph interpreted a dream which described two consecutive seven year periods, first of plenty, then of famine.

Here’s some additional commentary I’ve gleaned from the internet relating to the number fourteen:

The number 14 represents deliverance or salvation and is used twenty-two times in the Bible.  The fourteenth day of the first month is the Passover, when God delivered the firstborn of Israel from death. Some 430 years earlier, on the night of the 14th day of the first month, God made two covenant promises to Abraham — one of the physical seed, Isaac, and his descendants, and one of the spiritual seed, Jesus Christ, and the sons of God who would come through Him, who would shine like the stars of heaven (Matthew 13:43). On the day portion of the 14th, God confirmed the promises with a special covenant sacrifice.”

But what about September 13th?

Those who have read the book The Harbinger by Rabbi Cahn may be aware of the widespread interest in the date of September 13th, 2015. (http://www.amazon.com/The-Harbinger-Ancient-Mystery-Americas/dp/161638610X )

When I googled only three words-- "Harbinger September 13"-- I was surprised at the large number of links which mention this soon coming day.  These links appear to generally discuss predictions of coming troubles with severe negative economic impact-- 'blood moons' and eclipses as confirming signs.  I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say millions of people are watching for this coming September 13th to portend trouble.

But perhaps we would be wise in viewing this time period from the perspective of the Jewish calendar instead of our modern one.  What if some of the events predicted as coming on the 13th will instead begin to take place on the 7th?   Could it be that some kind of unexpected economic melt-down could be triggered on September 7th (which is our secular Labor Day holiday)?  Would a day when the American stock markets are closed also be a day of the beginning of new troubles in the world?  For it to happen on a holiday would certainly be a surprise.  What if one of the nations in the Mid-East, such as Iran, suddenly invaded Iraq?  Or what if there were another terrorist attack on U.S. soil?  Or what if some large scale natural disaster like an earthquake or tsunami occurred in our nation?

I know we can’t plan our lives on the basis of ‘what ifs’.  However Jesus spoke some preparatory instructions: "Watch and pray..."  If we develop this internal discipline we will not be caught spiritually flat-footed when in this world we are subjected to historic events which impact us adversely whether personally, nationally or globally.

But watch for what?  Pray about what?  A person who watches has their gaze fixed on a horizon to see what may be coming in the future.  A person who prays is seeking  God for awareness, knowledge and wisdom for what’s ahead.

From the Christian perspective I don't view times or days of trouble as judgments of an angry God against me.  If and when trials come I remember the words of Jesus, "In the world you will have troubles-- but be of good cheer because I have overcome the world."  Therefore we can expect troubles, and also prepare ourselves for them.

So as we see the month of September approaching, we can do just that.  We can seek the Lord's guidance and wisdom on how best to prepare ourselves for whatever comes.  If some event as fateful as Elul 23 of 2001 were to occur in our nation, we can still be somewhat prepared rather than completely surprised and unprepared.  For millions of people September 11, 2001 was a terrifying day.  Will exactly 14 Jewish calendar years later on 9-7-15 be similar?  God only knows.  But in the week leading up to September 13, a panic sell-off in the marketplace wouldn’t surprise me.   As I mentioned earlier, millions of people are looking at 9-13-15 in anticipation of major troubles.

Here’s another aspect of ‘watch and pray’ to consider:  It's worth remembering how millions of people had at least a temporary awakening to spiritual things as a result of 9-11-01.  Troubled times in our nation have a way of getting people’s attention to spiritual things, when they otherwise would ignore them.  So whether or not there is anything outwardly or historically significant coming this September, we should prepare ourselves and be ready for anything.

“Let not your hearts be troubled, nor let them be afraid.”  One thing is for sure: Jesus Christ is ready for everything... and undoubtedly wants us to maintain a state of readiness and preparation, knowing our heavenly Father has everything under control.   If some major crisis does happen in early September, it will simply be further proof that He actually does control the times and seasons in our lives.  Knowing this will a continued source of reassurance.

What am I personally doing to prepare?  Without going into detail, I think it’s wise to have extra food on hand.  We don’t know what might happen in our nation economically, so preparing as for any type of emergency makes sense.
