"Paul Wilson's post on
starting the new month on August 2"
Goodness! Now again a calendar slide.
Paul, you posted the Karaite Korner information on sighting the
new moon for this Biblical
month. They said one could not see the new moon in Israel
on July 31, thus the first
day of the month would be August 2.
Does that mean that other feasts would move, if reckoned this
way? I really don't know,
does anyone?
Does it mean Tisha B'Av would move from August 9 to August 10,
and Tu B'Av would
move from August 15 to 16? If Tu B'Av moved to August 16,
it would then be on a Tuesday.
I am not sure this matters in our reckoning of these
festivals--but it might. I am not an expert
on Jewish Biblical calendars. Modern Jews will be using
the Gregorian calendar
and Tisha B'Av will be on August 9 and Tu B'Av on August 15,
according to the calendar
someone posted off the Deyo website. The Gregorian
calendar can be found on the Deyo
website if anyone wants to look this up.
Glory to the Lord on every day of the month!
