Here is what the Lord told me back when I was first saved in 1988.  I was so frightened about the rapture coming after reading the book, "88 Reasons Why The Rapture Will Happen in 1988".  I gave my heart to Christ at that point in August, 1988, because I realized after reading that book that I was sitting on the fence with God.

He told me this:  "Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.  If you don't hold on in faith for whatever and however it happens, you will have lost your faith when you need it most".

This has given me great peace and strength throughout the years.
