"RE: Robert Belanger - What is the Next Big Event?"

Hi Robert,

I believe that the next big event in the rapture, not the destruction of Damascus.  Actually, I believe that the Isaiah 17/Psalm 83 War will occur, in part, because of the rapture.

There are several parallels that I show in the following study that support that the war in Isaiah 17 is the same described in Psalm 83:

Also consider the following parallels that show the connect with the rapture and the Psalm 83 War:

Are the "hidden ones" in Psalm 83 the Church?

    Psalm 83:1-5 (King James Version)
Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee

In Psalm 83 "thy people" is Israel. The following scriptures support the Church being the "hidden ones" as they describe God's people being "hidden" during the indignation:

Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.
Isaiah 26:19-21 Your dead shall live; Together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; For your dew is like the dew of herbs, And the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past. For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain.
Zephaniah 2:3 Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth, Who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden In the day of the LORD's anger.

It appears that the "Great Middle East War" starts because the opportunity arises for Israel's enemies in the aftermath of the resurrection and rapture of the Church.

Is Psalm 108 another prophetic parallel to the "Great Middle East War"?

    Psalm 108 - A Song. A Psalm of David.

1 O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.
2 Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn.
3 I will praise You, O LORD, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations.
4 For Your mercy is great above the heavens, And Your truth reaches to the clouds.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, And Your glory above all the earth;
6 That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and hear me.
7 God has spoken in His holiness:
"I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem And measure out the Valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead is Mine; Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver.
9 Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Over Philistia I will triumph."
10 Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?
12 Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless.
13 Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.
  • Verse 2 appears to be speaking about the resurrection.
  • Verse 6 may be describing the rapture of the Church; the Bride/Beloved of Christ.
  • Verses 7-8 describe the land that Israel will gain during the Great Middle East War.
  • Verse 8-9 show that the West Bank, Jordan and Gaza will be defeated.
  • Verse 10-13 show that God will deliver Israel from her enemies.
The Rapture and the "Great Middle East War" - Will they occur near the same time?
  • Type = Elijah was taken to heaven in a whirlwind (2 Kings 2:11).
Parallel = God will make Israel's enemies like "chaff before the whirlwind" in the war (Isaiah 17:13, Psalms 83:13, Zephaniah 2:1, Amos 1:14, Isaiah 26:18, Jeremiah 23:19).

  • Type = Gideon went up against Israel's neighbors, the Midianites, and the Lord delivered them; even being outnumbered (Judges 7).
Parallel = The Lord will deliver Israel, being outnumbered, from its neighbors in the Great Middle East War.

  • Type = Gideon had his men blow a trumpet and break pitchers with torches inside when they went up against the Midianites (Judges 7:15-22).
Parallel = At the trumpet sound at the rapture, the light inside believers will be revealed through the transformation of their earthly vessels, to that of a glorified body (2 Corinthians 4:7-12, 1 Corinthians 15:52).

  • Type = Sisera, and Jabin were other neighbors of Israel from Canaan that were defeated (Judges 4).
Parallel = The Psalmist pleads with God to deal with Israel's neighbors in the same manner that he dealt with Sisera and Jabin. (Psalms 83:9-10).

  • Type = Gideon killed Oreb, Zeeb, Zebah, and Zalmunna ( Judges 7:25, Judges 8:1-21).
Parallel = The Psalmist pleads with God to deal with Israel's neighbors in the same manner Gideon dealt with Oreb, Zeeb, Zebah, and Zalmunna (Psalm 83:11).

  • Type = Gideon took the crescent ornaments that were on the necks of Zebah and Zalmunna's camels after he killed them (Judges 8:21).
Parallel = The vast majority of Israel's neighbors are Muslims, whose symbol is the crescent moon. Israel's neighbors will also be defeated in the Great Middle East War.

  • Type = The Psalmist, writing of a war with Israel and her neighbors, asks that the Lord's beloved be delivered by His right hand (Psalm 108).
Parallel = Jesus is at the right hand of God, and His beloved is His Bride the Church (Matthew 22:44, 2 Corinthians 11:2, Revelation 21:9).

  • Type = Before God pours out His Judgment on Israel's neighbors, he hides those that seek Him from the day of the Lord's anger (Zephaniah 2:1-3).
    Parallel = The Church is not destined for God's Wrath (Romans 5:8-9, 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 & 5:9-10).

"What is the Next Big Event?"

Dear Doves,

This message is intended to spark your interest in reading Isaiah Chapter 17 carefully in light of the importance it appears to have for anyone interested in knowing the events of the seven year Tribulation period. The information provided here is for general consideration, for your use, given all other information on this subject.

From Lyn Mize’s Firstfruits web site (, the following information is given as an exegesis of Isaiah Chapter 17. Isaiah 17 describes events during the 7 years of Tribulation. In Semitic style, an overview is given first, followed by the details.

The meaning for us appears to be that the next big event we can expect, that will end the age of Grace, is the destruction of Damascus, followed shortly thereafter by the Firstfruits rapture of the Church.
