"One more for the night..."

I got a late start reading Five Doves today...very long, busy day for me. I just have one more thing to say on the issue of Glenn Beck.

I have always liked listening to him on TV, he's always been informative and tells us things about the tangled web of Washington Politics.

I just can't go to bed without stressing that when I was Wiccan, I too 'believed in Jesus'. Only, 'my' Jesus was an equal to me, a 'brother', albeit a much more 'advanced/evolved' Teacher. I believed he was sent 'by God', who sent him 'as his son' to 'show us how we can 'come to God'. Doesn't sound that bad...except it was more like, if we tried to 'be like Jesus', we'd be able to 'return to the Supreme Being and become ONE WITH IT. You see, I used the same 'names'. But they did NOT mean the same thing.

If I leave my car keys in my ignition, and my kid manages to get to me before I miss an important appointment, I can say, 'boy, you really saved me!'. Does that mean "my eternal soul is safe since you acted in my behalf"? No, it means I didn't miss an event!

I live in a farming community, just hours from the Mexico border, so we have a large Hispanic community. I could say, 'Jesus saved me last night'....and one might assume that I'd given my life to the Lord and was Born Again...or...it might mean that I was stranded out in the country and the tow truck driver, named Jesus, came out and jumped my car to get it started.

Please, please, know that what Christians mean when they say "God", "Jesus", "Saved", "Holy Spirit"...and a host of other words and phrases are NOT what other 'religions' mean. When Glenn Beck says those things, IF he is speaking AS A MORMON and the Mormon church has not come out and said, 'no, we do not approve of what he's saying', then he is delivering THEIR message...then, he is NOT meaning the same thing.

Here are some links for those of you who have never really learned much about Mormonism:

I also find it a bit interesting that Glenn Beck has been focusing so much on Civil Rights and using MLK's "Dream" anniversary, yet up until 1978, Blacks were not allowed to join the LDS "Priesthood". Since their god is ever changing (unlike ours being the same yesterday, today and forever), they were told by him via his mouthpiece on earth to change that rule via the 1978 Declaration on the Priesthood. hmmmm.

*sigh*

It all comes down to this. I do not know Glenn Beck personally. Even if I did, I can not presume to know the state of his soul. Only God knows that. BUT we can know him, 'by his fruits', and since he is heavily involved with his 'Temple', since he claims for Mormonism, and he lets slip some obviously LDS beliefs, I have to believe him when he says he IS a MORMON. Now, if he is deceived, then that is just a shame. I can see Satan doing that, if he had a true conversion experience...instead of tossing a bottle in front of him, just lead him to the door of a cult! But, I've yet to hear anyone from the Church (LDS) correct him, or reprimand him in any way. So, I have to assume he is doing things that they approve of, and endorse.

In battle, one is told to 'know your enemy', it's difficult to see how 'off' his beliefs are if you have never heard them. The official stuff they put out sounds so nice, they are all about Family Values, and Home and Hearth...but as you get deeper into the church, as you move further up into the Priesthood, then more and more is revealed to you. By then, you are so entangled it makes it near to impossible to leave. I really feel sorry for Glenn...especially if it was his wife or daughter that asked him to go to church there.

Look up some testimonies by Christians who've gotten out of the Mormon Church...it is quiet the eye opener.

I am rambling again, so I'll say good night and God Bless you all.
