"Did we miss something???"

A special thanks to Dave Hasselbeck for his encouragement on my website. I am blessed to know that the information on the website has helped you and that you have studied it and even printed it out. I made most of the pages on a jpg format so that it would be easy to copy and paste to Word or to Power Point if anyone wants to take any of the information and use it to share with friends or in churches. One note, in David's email he left out the "s" in the word "web" so if you click on the link he wrote, it will not open. Here is the correct link and I've copied the first page of the website that he was also referring to for everyone to read.

DID WE MISS SOMETHING???

We study history because we want to learn from the past. History often repeats itself and we want to learn from past mistakes so as not to make the same mistakes again.

The Biblical scholars of Jesus’ day were anxiously awaiting the appearance of their Messiah. They had studied so intently the prophecies about this Messiah and were certain that they would recognize him when he came. They knew where he would be born and the approximate time when he would come. They had so many prophecies about the kind of person he would be and the things that he would fulfill when he came. Their mistake was that they became too certain of their own interpretations about the Messiah and they completely missed him when he came. Could the same be true today? So many Biblical scholars are studying prophecy, and yet could so many of these prophecies about the end times and second coming of Christ have already been fulfilled over the last 2 years with hardly anyone noticing???

As we look back, it seems amazing to us that the people of Jesus’ day who were waiting for the Messiah actually missed it because of all the Scriptures that Jesus fulfilled. Even the disciples did not see many of the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled until after His resurrection and then their eyes were opened. Perhaps God actually blinds us so that we cannot see that what is happening is the fulfillment of prophecies until years after the events take place so that He can get all the glory for fulfilling prophecy to the letter without anyone even noticing that it has been fulfilled. It does seem that God has scattered prophecies of Jesus’ first and second comings throughout the Old and New Testaments like hidden jewels of treasure. Just a verse here and there, waiting for their fulfillments when one day we will all look back and be amazed at how they were all fulfilled right in front of us and no one even saw it, just like at His first coming!

As we read through the Gospels, we can see the writers pointing out so many prophecies that Jesus fulfilled from the Old Testament. But most of these prophecies were not recognized as being fulfilled until years later, after Jesus had resurrected. So today, I believe that many of the prophecies that we are waiting fulfillment may have actually already taken place right in front of our eyes, and the Church has missed them! Only God can do that – have prophecies so specific written thousands of years in advance and have millions of His people watching and awaiting their fulfillment, and then the prophecies are fulfilled, the events are all over the news, and we all miss it! Glory to God! He deserves all glory for doing this, and it is nothing short of miraculous!

When will Jesus’ Second Coming take place?

When will Jesus come back to the earth? It’s the granddaddy of all theological questions. Most theologians will argue that Jesus said no one would know when He will return, so they throw the question out.

However, I believe that we can know when Jesus is returning to the earth. The Bible says that God does nothing without first revealing it to His servants the prophets. There were many prophecies regarding Jesus’ first coming; even the time of His coming was announced hundreds of years before it took place (see Daniel 9). But unfortunately the vast majority of people in His day, even those who were looking for Him and studying the prophecies, completely missed Him when He came. It did not happen in the way they thought it was going to happen. It was their preconceived ideas of how the Scriptures would be fulfilled that kept them blind to what was happening and they simply could not see that Jesus was fulfilling every prophecy because it wasn’t in the way that they were expecting the prophecies to be fulfilled.

And so it is again. History repeats itself. The Bible gives us so much evidence as to when Jesus will come back, and yet few people know when He is coming. May God open our blind eyes and deaf ears to see and to hear His Word and the truth about His Second Coming to the earth so that we can “number our days” and use them wisely because the time is so short. May our preconceived ideas begin to fall away as we see that the Scriptures have been and are being fulfilled IN OUR DAY that point to the time of His return.

This website is not for those who are looking for quick and simple answers. You will need to become like the Bereans in Acts 17 who “studied the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” There is so much evidence in Scripture that points to the exact timing of Jesus’ Second Coming to earth, that I simply cannot just write point A, B and C and then you will understand. Only those who truly seek the truth will find it. I do hope you will seek the truth in what I write and the Lord will illuminate your mind and heart to see where we really are in His plan for mankind.

GENERAL TIME PERIOD OF SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

If we look at the prophecies regarding Jesus’ first coming, we can see that some of them take up entire chapters in the Old Testament, while others are just a verse here and there, sort of hidden between other texts. With Jesus’ Second Coming, some of the prophecies are also somewhat scattered and hidden with other texts, while there are other prophecies that are more obvious like portions of Daniel and Revelation.

The first thing we need to look at is the GENERAL time period when Jesus will return (yes it is in the Scriptures!). The epistle of Barnabas (not part of the Scriptures, but taught to the early Christians) teaches us that God has a 7000-year plan for mankind. For more understanding of this teaching, please go to the section entitled “7000 year plan of God”.

If you study the material presented there, you will see that we are right at the end of the 6000 years since Adam, as well as 2000 years after Christ. We are certainly in the time period when Jesus will come back to the earth. Daniel 12 talks about the words or prophecies about the Second Coming being closed or “sealed” until the time of the end. It says that many will go here and there to increase in knowledge. We can see over the last century how so much has changed in the world with the modern-day inventions. There is so much knowledge in the world today. Jesus rebuked those people in His day that could interpret the weather, but could not interpret the signs of the times. Let us open our minds to what God has to say in His Word about His return and not be ignorant as were the people of His day.
