Dear friends:
The word “amen” is the most popular and powerful word in the
world!
It is the same in both the Hebrew Old Testament and Greek New
Testament as it is in English. According to the Strong's
Enhanced Lexicon, It was transliterated directly from the Hebrew into
the Greek of the New Testament, then into Latin and into English and many
other languages, so that it is practically a universal word. It has been
called the best known word in human speech.
It is fascinating that the word is almost identical to the Hebrew word
for “believe” (amam). It came to mean “sure” or “truly”, an
expression of absolute trust and confidence.
The first time amam is used in the Bible is in Genesis 15:6, where
it says of Abraham, "And he believed (amam) in the LORD; and he
counted it to him for righteousness." Thus, amam is the word
that first triggered grace and righteousness conveyed to humanity by God
through our faith, the greatest act of mercy and grace in all
history. It is also the action word that birthed all the
descendants of Abraham, all over the world, for some 4,000
years.
The word amen is used 78 times in the Bible, in both Hebrew and
Greek.
Too often in our world today the word amen is used flippantly,
without sincerity. However, when amen is spoken sincerely,
with conviction, and in faith, concerning one of God's truths and
promises, this word of faith actually actuates that truth or promise into
one's life. It brings it into reality, from the spirit world to the
physical world.
"For all the promises of God in Him
are Yes, and in Him
Amen, to the glory of God through
us" ( 2 Corinthians 1:20).
Yes! Amen!
