"Thank you, Karl, for correcting the Jubilee year count. More about     the 70th week."

Re: A support for the "Jubileé = 2017/2018" alternative

That seems reasonable and would explain why the count wasn't matching up with everything else pointing to 2017.

Good to see someone exploring the calculations, not just assuming it is correct and then changing the entire rest of the program to try to fit into a 2014/2015 timeframe when all the evidence before us and all the signs are pointing to a 70th week that hasn't yet begun and that looks likely to end with a Second Coming in 2017/2018.

Also, I think sometimes we forget to look back at Daniel's prophecy when discussing the rapture, and therefore miss some very basic concepts.

For example, Daniel describes the 70 weeks as God's dealings with the nation of Israel and the ungodly gentile nations. He lists specifically their purpose: "
Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place." (Daniel 9:24 NASB)

The church was not present for the first 69 weeks. There is no reason for the church to still be on earth for the 70th week either. Note that that's all seven years. Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy doesn't make a distinction of the first 3.5 years being so-called "man's wrath" and the second 3.5 years being God's wrath. In fact, nowhere in the Bible do we read of "man's wrath against the Church" aside from the common persecution of the saints experienced throughout the last 2,000 years in various forms and varying degrees. The 70th week, on the other hand, is said to be God's activity and specifically focused on Israel and the ungodly gentile nations around her.

Let us not forget that when we discuss the timing of the rapture.

And when we remember that, we can be pretty confident that the 70th week has not begun because the Church is still here. That is a strong evidence that a 2014/2015 timeframe for the Second Coming is suspect and probably miscalculated, as our brother Karl has noted.

Grace and peace.
