"To Randy"
Hi Randy!
I'm a former "Dixonite"
although born in Amboy as my parents farmed on the 6mile Rd. We
were the Original Beverly Hill Billies; moving from Dixon to Beverly
Hills in '45. We were in Amarillo when Roosevelt died. We
pulled into B.H. in the old '38 Chevy pick-up and '41 Dodge 4 door in
the middle of the night.
My dad and I used to boat on
the beautiful Rock River, which, I understand, is not so beautiful
anymore. Ah! The "Good Ole Days"! However - what's
ahead for us as Believers is beyond the most vivid imagination!
My
folks owned a beautiful old house just a couple doors from the
Reagans. You probably know, "Ronnie's" first job was as a life
guard in Lowell Park. My sister knew him and when he became
President of a Great Country, said that if she had know years earlier,
while swimming at Lowell Park, she would have gone "Glug, glug, glug";
"Ronnie" would have rescued her; they would have married and she would
have become the First Lady. (Dream on!)
I understand Prince Castle is no longer an ice cream parlor, now existing as a pizza parlor. Too bad!
The Dixon Arch and Nachusa House will "always" remain - until - !!!
I
fear that the O.of O.O. will have a difficult time finding employment
when the time comes. (Experience doing what?!?! Nothing
constructive!) And - there won't be Social Security and
probably no more welfare handouts, food stamps and medical assistance.
As
I sit hear reminiscing, I find myself drooling for ground
cherries! Maybe you can send me some! I'm SURE that's one
of the main items at the Marriage Feast! I can hardly wait!!!!!!!
Till then -
Shalom~
Gwen
