"To: Rene...When is Feast of Trumpets"
No one knows. The date of Tishri 1, that is New
Year for the Jews, is determined by the Temple witnesses spotting the
first sliver of the new moon in our September. When they
report back to the Temple authorities that they have seen it, THAT DAY
IS TISHRI 1.
This year, our calendar says it is to be September
9. Last year, 2009, it was to be September 19. It turned
out last year to be September 21. I'm thinking that this year is will
be September 11, exactly 9 years after the Twin Towers went down.
Only
time will tell, but this system of determination is the reason that "no
man knows the day or hour", so often quoted. By the way, Tishri 1
is the only date determined in this manner. All others date off
of this date.
