This story is a hoax it says mullet are congregating on the surface

and this is strange behavior for mullet.
 

I live in Florida and have seen many mullet in the intracoastal waters just under the surface. I have even used a frog gig to spear mullet.

This is most assuredly not a deep water dwelling fish, and congregating at the surface is not aberrant behavior for mullet. They often jump completely out of the water.
