"Are we hijacking the meaning of communion?"

First of all I would like to correct Jim's misinterpretation of what I said.
I don't see anything wrong with taking communion on a daily basis.
However, like every Christian activity we do, it is our motive and our walk with God that matters.
We can't just go to church and think that is enough.
That would be like the parable of the person who builds their house on sand and did not do the words of Jesus.
We can pray and read the bible all day and still be just as far from God as the unsaved if our character does not reflect Jesus.
The purpose of communion is simply the self examination of who we are in Jesus and the remembrance of what he did for us by participating in the wine and the bread, until he returns.
It in fact warns us that we who participate in it unworthily will become sick, just like others have tried to share here.
What I shared here is scripture, and that is all we have to go on.
