If the early church did this it would seem to make sense that we should too.
However, many of the early church suffered severe persecution so I would imagine they took the communion much more seriously.
We have to be careful with the latest Christian fad, make sure it is not just a fad.
I first heard of the daily communion for healing from a person who has some serious character problems which are being ignored.
So for him it appears to just be a fad.
If we allow ourselves to go deep with God to search our hearts, He will go deep with us.
