Hi Jay...thanks for your
thoughts...however...
The 2008-2015 time frame is based entirley off of
the Daniel 9:24-27 prophecy:
"Seventy weeks are determined for your
people and for your holy city, to finish the
transgression, to make an end to sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to
bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to
annoint the Most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth
of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the
Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty two weeks: the streets shall be
built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times".
1. Despite the gravity of Israel becoming a
nation on May 14, 1948...the "prophetic countdown" did not start until ,"the
going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem"...which ocurred on
June 7, 1967.
The 70 weeks
prophecy pertains to Israel, but is entirely centered on
Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the heart and epicenter of Israel. Thats the
current problem, if the world can take Jerusalem from Israel, then what
does Israel have left? Lastly, I was using Shmita's to
validate suggested Jubilee years, which apparently converge with major
prophetic occurances. It's an idea, so therefore must be proved.
2. The 70 weeks prophecy deals specifically with
Israel and Jerusalem...the church has nothing on it.
3. I don't think the Shmita year is a scheme
and there is no evidence that suggests that Rabbi's need to know Christ to
count Shmita years. Jews are great record keepers, and so they've lost
count of the Jubilee,
but have retained accurate
Shmita's. The question is which Shmita will usher in the Jubilee, and for that I
don't think its inappropriate to utilize major prophetic events ie.
6/7/67 as markers. However, what I (and
perhaps others) have noticed is that there is a correlation of significant events occuring on Shmita years,
and really exploding on the years after the 49th Shmeta...which would be the
Jubilee. I might post
something on this
shortly?
4. If 2010-17 then why not 2020-27 or any date for
that matter? Perhaps I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem to be based off of anything
other than speculation. 2008-15 is based on solid math and concrete prophecy
from
Daniel 9:24-27. Although its no guarantee that Christ will return in 2015,
this time frame has enough evidence to make it valid. The rapture has been
a sticking point (I know this), but has possible
explanations and clues with
the story of Joseph.
5. As for the lunar tetrads...its true we don't
know what they indicate. However, when they have occured in the past on feast
days, we get Israel becoming a nation, then Israel capturing
Jerusalem. Tetrads occuring
on feast days almost never
happens so there's not a huge track record. But combined with
the other astronomical events such as the 3 eclipses all on Av 1st, venus
transiting the sun in 2012, something that only
happens every 400 years or so,
the other solar eclipses on feast days, the "7 weeks" of Daniel, the symmetry of
dates when 2008-15 is assumed...I like to think Israel is going to take all this
time around.
Ultimately, I don't view the 2008-15 time frame as
being significant because of a couple of coincidences, I think it is significant
because there is literally a massive flood of information, fact, coincidence,
timing, all converging like a thousand super sonic darts on one
bulls-eye...2008-15.

When we step back for a minute and examine the bigger
picture, there are several things to note:
1 - No 49th sabbath "shmita"
year in 1947-1948 when arguably the biggest prophetic event of the 20th century
occurred? Seems like a major strike against the "shmita" year scheme having any
true significance, and thus we can reasonably not expect future events to always
line up with "shmita" years.
2 - The events you noted in 1917 and 1967
are big events specifically for the nation of Israel, but not for the church.
Logic would then dictate that if there's a significant "shmita" year coming up,
it would portend a significant event for the nation of Israel again - like the
building of the Third Temple, or its desecration.
3 - Let us all be
careful not to put more emphasis on this "shmita" year calculation scheme which
is mostly a Jewish rabbinical concept, than on the REAL events actually
happening and all of which seem to line up with 2017. After all, the Jews today
are in darkness spiritually, and it is very likely their calculations and
calendars could be off as a result of their separation from God. (For example
remember, they did add an entire leap-month to their calendars in the 4th
century.)
4 - Also, while the Jews are the nation chosen for the lineage
of the Messiah, God deals with ALL the nations during the Great Tribulation,
which is a judgment against the ungodly as much as it is the period leading up
to the spiritual regeneration of that generation of Jews. And thus signs related
to that 70th week and its events would likely include warnings that ALL the
nations would be able to see and, if they were able/willing, bring them to
repentance. God always patiently warns, even while building up the crescendo to
unleashing judgment. Thus we should expect many of the signs pointing to the
coming Tribulation to line up with the regular calendar as well. And all of
these seem to point to the 2010-2017 time period. The rapture may be
mysteriously timed, but the coming massive judgment is not. God warns before He
judges.
5 - One more reminder that the tetrad of eclipses
in 2014-2015 are indeed a sign, but we do not and cannot know exactly as to what
the refer at this time. We will only know after it happens (if we're even here).
Given where they fall chronologically in the 2010-2017/2011-2018 time-frames,
they most likely are a sign of the beginning of the Great Tribulation (the
second half of the 70th week), or bracket the desecration of the Temple that
happens around the halfway point. Either way, remember that the darkening of the
sun & moon talked about in Matthew and Revelation is most likely going to be
a supernatural event of much greater duration and significance than any mere
eclipses, which last only a few minutes at most and are only observed by a small
portion of the planet.
Grace and peace.
