I, like you, would also prefer the rapture to be sooner than later, but we know that it will be on God's timeframe. We are told to watch and wait and endure patiently. We should not be impatient as spoiled children (I want it now mentality), but rather keep our focus on 'the goal' as we endure to the time of our 'departure'. Scripture does not tell us that we will not suffer - it tells us we will not "suffer wrath".
I would like to be wrong about my thinking of the Ascension Day rapture timeline, and have it happen sooner, but we cannot dismiss what Jesus is telling us in John 4:34-36.
