Dear Doves,

 

John 4:34-36

"Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, There are still four months and then comes the harvest? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both He who sows and He who reaps may rejoice together."

 

Where else in Scripture are we told by Jesus, Himself, that we are wrong about the timing of an anticipated future event? Not only does He tell us that we are wrong about the timing, but He also tells us exactly how much time we are off in our calculations! He tells us that the 'event' we are watching for is going to come "four months" (120 days) sooner than we expect it to.

 

"Behold, I say to you" means listen to me!

"Lift up your eyes" means pay attention!

"already" means sooner than you think.

"white for harvest" means the barley crop is white when it is ready to harvest in the late spring of the year, not in the fall.

"gathers" means rapture.

"fruit for eternal life" means the Church.

"He who sows" means God the Father.

"He who reaps" means our Lord Jesus.

"reaps" means rapture.
