hej Tony.A friend of mine send this to me, and immediatly I remembered your studie
about Absolom, perhaps you can use this ?Marana tha ><> soon now <>< - Jan Mikael !
Subject: 2-Samuel 19:7-10 Rasputin and "Blackbeard"
Flashback: We recalled how: Joab publicly thrust three darts into the heart
of Absalom but this for some reason was not sufficient to kill him outright
and it was left to the armor-bearers of Joab to finish him off. This was
recalled:[2-Samuel 18:14] THEN SAID JOAB, I MAY NOT TARRY
THUS WITH THEE. AND HE TOOK THREE DARTS IN HIS
HAND, AND THRUST THEM THROUGH THE HEART OF
ABSALOM, WHILE HE WAS YET ALIVE IN THE MIDST OF THE OAK.[2-Samuel 18:15] AND TEN YOUNG MEN THAT BARE
JOAB'S ARMOUR COMPASSED ABOUT AND SMOTE ABSALOM, AND SLEW HIM.It may be asked why were the three darts not sufficient to kill Absalom ? It
would have been enough to do in anybody else.We have been so busy running
through this account with all its outstanding personalities such David and
Joab and their companions that we have taken Absalom for granted. We knew
that Absalom was "beautiful".BUT IN ALL ISRAEL THERE WAS NONE TO BE SO MUCH
PRAISED AS ABSALOM FOR HIS BEAUTY: FROM THE SOLE
OF HIS FOOT EVEN TO THE CROWN OF HIS HEAD THERE
WAS NO BLEMISH IN HIM [2-Samuel 14:25].In Modern English when we speak of "beautiful" we usually mean something
feminine. "Beautiful" befits a woman. A man is "handsome". In Hebrew however
there is no such distinction. Absalom indeed was "beautiful" but in a manly
way, in such a way as to lead most of the people to believe that he would be
better commander than David. Absalom was "beautiful" as a man. He exuded
virility. This was part of the royal function. When David fled Jerusalem he
had left ten of his concubines behind to mind the palace (15:16). Ahitophel
advised Absalom to publicly have intercourse with them (16:21). This is what
Absalom did:SO THEY SPREAD ABSALOM A TENT UPON THE TOP OF THE
HOUSE; AND ABSALOM WENT IN UNTO HIS FATHER'S
CONCUBINES IN THE SIGHT OF ALL ISRAEL [2-Samuel 16:22].I would surmise that, To have intercourse with ten women one after another
and to be certain of being able to do so
in advance and for others to be certain of such ability in a man is a
quality not that common. There were however people like that in history.
There were however people like that in history. Two such persons were
Rasputin (1869-1916) the sweetheart of the wife of the Czar of Russia and
the pirate William Teach (c. 1680-1718) otherwise known as "Blackbeard".Rasputin
<http://nostalgia.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grigori_Rasputin>http://nostalgia.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grigori_Rasputin<Nobility in influential positions around the Czar however, mostly feared
the so-called demonic, mesmerizing power Rasputin could have on
people.Rasputin miraculously survived many
attempts, but was finally killed by drowning under the ice of the frozen
Malaja Nevka river.>><The murder of Rasputin has become legend, some of it invented by the very
men who killed him, which is why it becomes difficult to discern exactly
what happened. It is, however, generally agreed that, on December 16, 1916,
having decided that Rasputin's influence over the Tsaritsa had made him a
far-too-dangerous threat to the empire, a group of nobles, led by Prince
Felix Yusupov and the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich (one of the few Romanov
family members to escape the annihilation of the family during the Red
Terror), apparently lured Rasputin to the Yusupovs' Moika Palace, where they
served him cakes and red wine laced with a massive amount of cyanide.
According to legend, Rasputin was unaffected, although Vasily Maklakov had
supplied enough poison to kill seven men. Conversely, Maria's account
asserts that, if her father did eat or drink poison, it was not in the cakes
or wine, because, after the attack by Guseva, he had hyperacidity, and
avoided anything with sugar. In fact, she expressed doubt that he was
poisoned at all.

that Rasputin's influence over the Tsaritsa had made him a far-too-dangerous
threat to the empire, a group of nobles...apparently lured Rasputin to the
Yusupovs' Moika Palace, where they served him cakes and red wine laced with
a massive amount of cyanide. According to legend, Rasputin was unaffected,
although Vasily Maklakov had supplied enough poison to kill seven
men...Determined to finish the job...Yusupov ran upstairs to consult the
others and then came back down to shoot
Rasputin through the back with a revolver.
Rasputin fell, and the company left the palace for a while. Yusupov, who had
left without a coat, decided to return to grab one, and, while at the
palace, he went to check up on the body. Suddenly, Rasputin opened his eyes,
grabbed
Yusupov by the throat and strangled him. "You bad boy," Rasputin whispered
ominously in his ear, before throwing him across the room and escaping.
As he made his bid for freedom, however, the other conspirators arrived and
fired at him. After being hit three times in the back, Rasputin fell once
more. As they neared his body, the party found that, remarkably, he was
still alive,
struggling to get up. They clubbed him into submission and, after wrapping
his body in a sheet, threw him into an icy river, and he finally met his end
thereas had both his siblings before him.Three days later, the body of Rasputin, poisoned, shot four times and badly
beaten, was recovered from the Neva River and autopsied. The cause of death
was hypothermia. His arms were found in an upright position, as if he had
tried to claw his way out from under the ice. In the autopsy, it was found
that he had indeed been poisoned, and that the poison alone should have been
enough to kill him.Yet another report, also supporting the idea that he was still alive after
submerging through the ice into the Neva River, is that after his body was
pulled from the river, water was found in the lungs.[>>Teach
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackbeard>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackbeard
Edward Teach (c. 1680-1718) better known as
Blackbeard, was a notorious English pirate in the Caribbean Sea<Teach was reportedly shot five times and stabbed more than twenty times
before he died and was decapitated. Legends about his death immediately
sprang up, including the oft-repeated claim that Teach's headless body,
after being thrown overboard, swam between 2 and 7 times around the
Adventure before sinking. >>Both Rasputi and Teach met violent deaths. Both were hard to kill and taking
stabs and bullets that would have killed ten ordinary men twice over.Absalom apparently was such a person and perhaps much more so.David was also
an exceptional man in the physical
as well as the spiritual sense. It may be that something of the
extraordinary prowess of David was inherited by his son Absalom. Even the
spiritual strength was passed onto him only he transmuted it into
psychological willpower and misused it.To continue with our theme. Joab had had Absalom done to death. The
followers of David after being on the run, had achieved an overwhelming
victory over the forces of Absalom. Joab had had Absalom done to death.
David had been so publicly distraught over the death of Absalom that his
followers were ashamed of having won the battle. Joab warned David that
there was a danger of his followers leaving him due to his mournful
behavior.[2-Samuel 19:7] NOW THEREFORE ARISE, GO FORTH,
AND SPEAK COMFORTABLY UNTO THY SERVANTS: FOR
I SWEAR BY THE LORD, IF THOU GO NOT FORTH, THERE
WILL NOT TARRY ONE WITH THEE THIS NIGHT: AND THAT
WILL BE WORSE UNTO THEE THAN ALL THE EVIL THAT
BEFELL THEE FROM THY YOUTH UNTIL NOW.[2-Samuel 19:8] THEN THE KING AROSE, AND SAT IN
THE GATE. AND THEY TOLD UNTO ALL THE PEOPLE,
SAYING, BEHOLD, THE KING DOTH SIT IN THE GATE.
AND ALL THE PEOPLE CAME BEFORE THE KING: FOR
ISRAEL HAD FLED EVERY MAN TO HIS TENT.[2-Samuel 19:9] AND ALL THE PEOPLE WERE AT STRIFE
THROUGHOUT ALL THE TRIBES OF ISRAEL, SAYING,
THE KING SAVED US OUT OF THE HAND OF OUR
ENEMIES, AND HE DELIVERED US OUT OF THE HAND OF
THE PHILISTINES; AND NOW HE IS FLED OUT OF THE LAND FOR ABSALOM.[2-Samuel 19:10] AND ABSALOM, WHOM WE ANOINTED
OVER US, IS DEAD IN BATTLE. NOW THEREFORE WHY
SPEAK YE NOT A WORD OF BRINGING THE KING BACK?Brit-Am works on behalf of all Israelites meaning
