I'd like to thank Carolyn, Jim Bramlett, Sam Orlando, Chip, Mike Thompson, Gary Carroll and Brad Richard for taking the time to clarify the issue of tithing.  Wow!  Your opinions were unanimous.  Tithing only existed under the Old Testament Law.  It no longer applies.
 
I am simply amazed that today's most respected pastors can go on international television and preach the necessity of tithing with such conviction!  Have they no shame?  How many well-meaning Christians have been negatively affected by this concept?
 
Gary, you are right on when you say that tithing changes our relationship with the Lord.  Every time I have ever tried to tithe for any length of time, it just didn't feel "right".  It didn't make me happy.  I actually began to think of God as someone who wouldn't help me with problems unless I paid up.  In other words, I had to buy God's love and mercy.  What a terrible thought.  And then I would feel guilty for thinking that way.  I began to pray less and less.  I felt uncomfortable.  That's what finally prompted me to ask everyone for help.
 
Once again, thanks for clarifying this issue once and for all.  What would we do without the 5 Doves website and fellowship together?  Thanks to John for making this possible.
