Hi John,
Just a note to throw a little water--in love--on the theory that the 10 "lost" tribes now make up the so-called "Christian" nations of the Anglo-American world.
First off, to God, these tribes are not lost. There will be twelve thousand of each (except Dan) amongst the Lord's 144,000 during the Tribulation.
I think there are many Europeans--Asians too--of all "brands" who have shades of Israeli blood. Genetic testing has already allowed the Kohathites to find out who they are--They're even having a conference (God willing) in Jerusalem next year. Given the time, scientists will be able to figure out the rest--if it really matters.
The question arises, so what benefit comes from being a lost Israelite? We know that circumcision (my metaphor for being an Israeli) benefits no one, but the circumcision of the heart through faith in Christ Jesus.
To single out the Anglo-American nations as being somehow "special" smacks of chauvinism. Look at the world: it's a complete and almost total mess, and the Anglo-Americans (of which I am both) have dominated the world--economically and militarily--for over 200 years. The promise to Abraham was that ALL nations of the earth through him would be blessed. And we know from Rev. 7:9 that this is so. The cross of Christ is that blessing, which broke down the wall separating Israeli and gentile. Only in Christ are we one.
So I think it would benefit all to lay aside the genealogies and turn our eyes upon the Saviour through which the grace of God has benefited all who answer His call. Time is getting short.your brother in Christ,
Matt
