"For Tracy Dee"
Dear Tracy,
Honey, I am so sorry to hear about the terrible experience
your family went through. My prayers and encouragement are with you
along with the others who read about this.
I am an RN and I have some experience with post traumatic
shock syndrome. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find that
you and your family are grappling with this condition. It's very
real, and a normal reaction to the horrible experience you went through.
The nightmares and sleep problems are a symptom of this.
There is professional help available to you and I would
like to encourage you to seek it. At the very least, I would like
to suggest to you to see your family doctor. While you are trying
to deal with the aftermath of this problem, he can help you with prescription
medication to help you sleep and not have so many nightmares. And
I'm hoping he can point you in the right direction to have some counseling.
If he doesn't, then seek it out another way.
You will have enough to deal with and work out aside
from the nightmares, but this is an area in which you can gain some relief
now. There are sleep medications now that are safe and non addicting.
So I hope that you and other members of your family will consider this
so that you can get some relief from this anxiety during the night hours.
You will then be more refreshed to grapple with the anxiety of the daylight
hours.
I so admire you for what you did. May God bless
and heal you and your family.
